Yoga Retreat Los Angeles

acharya shree, you've mentioned in your talks that it takes only 48 minutes to reach enlightenment. can you explain this further? it's beautiful. the samanic tradition, especially these days we call it jain, the jain tradition, the easiest way to get enlightenment, follow that tradition. very simple. they say, let me repeat in punjabi language: "do komaare paanch ko katte, attaan deejar katte. thaa mukti dhar laha katte. do komaare paanch ko paale, kattaan deejar katte. thaa mukti dhar laha katte." let me explain in english. "do komaare;" two. two things. raga and dvesha. raga is attachment. dvesha is hatred. everything is included in this; anger, ego, everything. raga and dvesha.

Yoga Retreat Los Angeles

Yoga Retreat Los Angeles, raga means attachment. dvesha means hatred. these are two, the main seeds of the worldly cycle. the people are going, being born and dying. again and again and again, they suffer, they have pain, they go up and down. this is two seeds; raga and dvesha. "do komaare;" dissolve these two. "paanch ko paale;" five things you have to put in your life. that is called "smithi." five smithis. five smithi means, iriya smithi is the first; how to walk with awareness that you don't harm, hurt, or kill any living being. bhasha smithi; how to speak that you don't hurt, harm, or kill other person. you can kill with your words. people can get shocked. people cannot believe that, he said to me they might commit suicide by your words.

so, you have to have, how to speak the words; beautiful words only. sweet words only. now, all these words is under your control. that is called bhasha smithi. eshana smithi. eshana smithi is, like, like, as a monk, how to go and begging the food. or, as a householder, you, how you put all these things, belongings, in your home so they don't get bugs in it, in your food, or in your beans, or in your vegetables, fruits. so, that is called eshana smithi. and "ucchar pasven khel jala singhana paritha vaniya samiti;" and, also, like, whatever you have extra, where you dump them. if you dump somewhere there are maybe millions of ants there. then they all get killed. if you put the whole piles on them there, so you didn't look at it. so, but you wanted to dump it, you did it. so, you be careful with awareness. or, "ayaan bhandamat nikevana samiti." whatever belongs to you, even pots, cups, any belongings, your clothes, dresses, your bed; anything belongs to you, you clean them and keep them in the good shape. otherwise, it will create a lot of bacterias and living beings. that is your fault. so, these are five samiti. if you bring these five principles in your life, and you become aware about, this is second step.

third step is, "attaan deejar katte." there are eight karmas. eight karmas is a big concept. so, you have to know how to dissolve your karma, how to burn your karma, that is the third technique. if you follow these three techniques, that is the very easy way to get the enlightenment. but, it seems like very easy. that's what i call, jain's moksha is the easiest moksha. what you have to do? work on raga, dvesha; attachment and hatred. follow the five samitis, with awareness, whatever i explained already. "attaan deejar katte," and eight karmas, you understand and dissolve them, and you get enlightenment. it's very easy. but can you do it? let me tell you psychologically: things which seems the easiest one, the most difficult to do it. it is not easy to dissolve the raga, attachment, or hatred. it is not easy to dissolve, or burn, all these karmas, whatever you've collected since infinite. it is not easy, also, to follow these five samitis. who has control about their own language? who has control over their, like, the walking? they just walk crazy. they don't care about where they step, or they kill, or they hurt anyone. so, it is like five, it seems like easiest thing, but it is the most difficult. and people are seeking enlightenment all over the world. they want to be enlightened. and they are very much attracted to the false groups.

i will tell you the one group. they teach you in india, it is called 'radhasoami.' radhasoami, they go, you go there, it is a big kingdom on the vyas, vyas river in north india. it's the big kingdom. big kingdom means thousands of acres land. and they have established since thous--, like, hundreds of years ago, this. and they tell you that, wake up early in the morning, like 4 o'clock, and you sit in meditation 3 hours and you will get enlightenment. first of all, 4 o'clock... 4 o'clock. that is the time to sound asleep. people love to sleep early in the morning. and you wake up because you follow that teacher, and what is going to happen? you will wake up, because you want to accept the teachings. and you wake up, and you are half asleep. you will sit three hours, but you will be always asleep. you are not going to meditate, and you sit for three hours. one thing can happen. that, if you have a gastric trouble, your gastric trouble will be over. that is sure, because three hours, even you're sitting this way, your body is fully down, so it means you are half asleep. i don't tell, suggest you to follow those kind of teachings. hey, wake up naturally. if you wake up even 6 o'clock, you meditate. that meditation, fifteen minutes, is worth than three hours. and many people are attracted toward this buddhist texts--buddhist sect: vippassana. vippassana is amazing to me. they go. they are attracted towards it, because what they do, they put you in discipline: "hey, ten hours silence, then sit eight hours meditation."

come on people. eight hours meditation? i will explain you why you cannot do that. i am going to explain, let me mention a little more thing. eight hours meditation. and people get attracted, "hey we're going to get enlightenment soon." eight hours continuously. ten hours silence, continuously. and they give you the tags. you are in silence. go to those retreats, and they give you that, and you become like the other sheep. because you follow it. and when you're going to follow all the hundreds of people in silence, you are one of them. so, you follow, too. it doesn't mean that it happens, silence, inside of you. maybe inside of you a lot of thoughts are going on, a lot of negativities are going on. or you begin to think, "where i got stuck here? ten hours? i cannot even speak, or three days i cannot speak." come on. this is not the way to get the enlightenment. it maybe discipline if you are angry, if you are, like, too much, you cannot stay without speaking. it gives you a little discipline.

i don't doubt about that. that you don't speak, you now escape from the fighting. that you, you will not waste your energy. because most of energy is wasted speaking. most of energy is wasted, but if you are in silence three days, you will save a lot of energy. that is benefit, of course, but that is wrong concept that you will lead towards meditation, or silence will lead you towards meditation. no, silence is totally different, i am going to explain, too. so, i will suggest don't get trapped on these kind of stuff. it is a discipline. you can do at home. you can practice silence at home. you can practice sitting in one posture, maybe one hour, two hour - if you can. if you can do eight hours you are brave. but that is only discipline, it has nothing to do with your enlightenment. let me tell you what enlightenment is. enlightenment can be reached only in 48 minutes. and you come to me, and i will give you the enlightenment within 48 minutes.

it seems very easy to do. that i am telling you, i am inviting you, but can you do it 48 minutes? 48 minutes is if you can be in the samayik. samayik means into your soul, 100% into your own soul. not in your senses, not in your body, not in your mind, not in your thoughts. just in the soul, 100% in your being. and only the maximum time your mind can cooperate with you, it can be absent only 48 minutes when you have this body, and you have a developed mind. mind can be absent only 48 minutes. and if your mind can be absent 48 minutes, you achieved the biggest thing. but mind cannot be absent 48 minutes. you can keep practicing. maybe it's absent for 5 seconds. you are lucky if it is absent for 1 minute even. you are talking about 48 minutes? 48 minutes is the max mind's absence brings you enlightenment suddenly. but can you do it? it seems easier. i can guarantee you that you come to me and sit 48 minutes, but where you have to go? you have to go 100% fully into your being. no mind, no body, no thoughts, no senses. are you able to do it?

it seems easy. but i guarantee you: enlightenment only takes 48 minutes max. but why we're not getting enlightenment? because we are still in the process. people are practicing still to be there. maybe they are there 1 minute. and if you are in 1 minute there, totally in your being, totally in the, you touch the depth of your whole being, you are totally transformed. even 1 minute, you are totally transformed. and you're going the three days silence retreat? and you are transformed? after a while you are same. why? it means transformation never happened, it was your only discipline. and discipline doesn't work for transformation. that's what, i am against of discipline. it's better if you are sleepy in the morning, you better wake up 6 o'clock instead of 4 o'clock. why i am telling you? because then your body, your senses, your mind is fresh. and when these body, mind and the thoughts are fresh it can help you to go deep into meditation, maybe for 2 minutes, even. but it doesn't mean that i am telling you not to practice it. practice maybe one hour. try. efforts i always appreciate. put efforts, but when to put efforts, that you have to do it; when you are ready. but if you force yourself to wake up, 4 o'clock or 3 o'clock, that doesn't work.

that is just forcing, and forcing, by force you cannot enter into your being. and if you cannot enter into your being there is no transformation. transformation happens only when you 100% enter into your being. you go beyond the body, mind, thoughts, everything, all the senses. and it is very difficult to do it. practice. that's what, in jain tradition, or samanic tradition, we put people always for 48 minutes. that is called one samayik. if one samayik happens one day and it belongs only to 48 minutes, and when samayik happens enlightenment happens. but keep practicing. if you have gone 1 minute in your soul, fully in your being, so, tomorrow is possibility you might go for 2 minutes. one day is possibility 3 minutes, 5 minutes. one day is possibility--maybe time will come you will reach the 48 minutes, 100%. and that brings you enlightenment. all the other things, what people are attracted, go to the retreat for silence, three days, five days, ten days, or, go to vippassana, and they say, "hey, we're giving the eight hours meditation continuously." it is not going to help you. only discipline there. discipline might affect you a little; your body, your mind, maybe straighten out a little bit, but transformation never going to happen. and the other groups, sometimes they wake up 3 o'clock. and they recite guru granth sahib, enter text here don't know what it is. and, hey people, come on. 3 a.m.?

you are waking up and you are reciting those man--those prayers? those words? and by repeating those words you can get enlightenment? there is no way. 3 o'clock? 3 a.m. you are fully asleep. so, that's the way people are have a lot of misconception about it. they need to straighten out. just practice samayik. samayik is the way. or, practice raga, dvesha, how to dissolve. follow the five principle, samiti i call it. work on your karmas. then you think about meditation. if you don't work about these things first, and you just jump straight into the meditation it's not going to happen. your nikachita karma has to be gone. your all the karma has to be burned. how they can burn? work on your raga, dvesha, and follow the five samitis. that is the way to go towards enlightenment. otherwise you will get trapped into another religions, and they teach you a little discipline, and you are attracted by the discipline. but it's not bringing you transformation. think about it. you want to achieve the highest state of consciousness. to reach your consciousness, 48 minutes, i guarantee you. enlightenment will happen. jai siddhatma. (be victorious liberated soul.)
