Yoga Vida Union Square
public talk with sri prem baba – 13.12.16, sã£o paulo topic: purpose thank you for this invitation, for this opportunity to be here talking about this topic that i consider so important to the human experience. when we focus our attention on this topic, it naturally brings up some questions: why are we born?
Yoga Vida Union Square, does life have any meaning? and if so, what is it? what is the meaning of my life? what motivates me? for what do i wake up in the morning? why?
by observing the evolving human being on this planet, we see that at some point in this journey these questions will of course start arising, and this is the beginning of a revolution in consciousness; the beginning of a redirecting of life itself. one thing is refocusing our efforts, all of our resources and abilities to do something in the world in order to meet our needs for survival. one thing is to do something to earn money, to please society, to please your family or your surroundings, or even to acquire fame and power. i call this the outer purpose, which for a while really does motivate us; it is the source of our enthusiasm. but there also comes a time when this enthusiasm runs out, when this motivation runs dry, because this outer purpose isn’t connected to the heart, it isn’t connected to what you as a soul came here to do. in other words, the outer purpose has no connection to the inner purpose.
i feel that this is one of the roots of human beings’ existential angst, and one of the roots of many negative, destructive symptoms, symptoms like corruption, anxiety, depression, shame, and maybe the worst of them all, the feeling of not fitting in anywhere, of not belonging, of feeling isolated and lonely. because this is how a person feels when they are simply carrying out their outer purpose, outer purpose in order to meet their material needs, without this purpose coming from the heart. so, what is the inner purpose? what is purpose? i say it is a program for realization that manifests when we can be who we really are. it is strange to talk like this! so this means i am not who i actually am?
that sounds crazy! so this means i am not who i really am? maybe not! maybe you aren’t! maybe you are using a false identity and have gotten so used to it that you don’t even question it anymore. but you can indeed identify the symptoms of the false identity. and the symptoms are the ones i have described: anxiety, feelings of disorientation, continuous anguish, a sadness that you cannot explain, a feeling of not belonging, that you feel out of place. these are the symptoms that are easier to identify. there are others that are even more subjective. but these ones you can easily identify.
these are the symptoms that indicate you are using an identity that really isn’t yours. and when you can rip away this false identity and express the truth of who you are, your purpose manifests because your purpose is like your soul’s program, it is like a perfume that naturally spreads its scent. the child, when it comes into this world, is spontaneous, free, expressing the many fragrances of being that he or she is. she trusts, she loves, she takes the hand of her father or mother and goes along with them without even knowing where she is being taken because she trusts. she can be herself because she hasn’t been contaminated yet by shame or fear. and she also has an idea of her purpose. when you where a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
who where your heroes? who were the people you admired? these are the signs, the coordinates that are programmed into your gps, on the path that you will walk in this life. but just as the child very early on learns to fear, she learns to feel jealousy, learns to be possessive, meaning that the child starts constructing a false “i†and starts to disconnect from her true essence, the child also starts to forget about these first inputs, these first signs about what he has come here to do. it’s often because the surroundings aren’t supportive, because the child ends up hearing that what she or he wants is too difficult. maybe it won’t be possible; maybe it is only a fantasy, only a dream. and this “dream guidance†of one's path often ends up withering away, covered up by a series of beliefs from people in the child's surroundings, who believe they know what’s important and necessary for them.
they ends up believing that in order to be happy they need to do certain things, to have certain things. so they begin starts acquiring some abilities, creating a repertoire to do the things that the world expects from them. but often what he ends up becoming or doing in the world has absolutely nothing to do with who he really is and what he actually came here to do. the greater the distance between outer and inner purpose, the more intense will be the negative symptoms: more anxiety, more anguish. sometimes this ends up also triggering physicalailments and a series of other problems that are symptoms of being disconnected from one’s purpose. for example, imagine an apple tree that cannot bear apples, an apple tree that is trying, by all means possible, to produce avocados. i believe that this apple tree is having some problems! imagine the sun that rises, intending to do something other that shining light or providing warmth. or water, that wants to do something else in the world other than quenching thirst.
the same goes for human beings. if you have come here to make popcorn and you are tending a garden, maybe you are going to have some problems. a dancer working in an office: can you see that this doesn't fit, this doesn’t work? or a person who came here to manage a business, but is trying to be an artist, an actor. there is a conflict. just as the sun rises to shine light and bring warmth, and water is born to quench thirst, humans are also born with a well-defined, very clear purpose, although often this purpose is completely forgotten. i consider this to be an important theme because, in unveiling your purpose, you will be unveiling yourself, because your purpose is intrinsic to you. your purpose only manifests when you can be yourself.
we are talking about the self-realization of being. so when asking, “why was i born? what have i come here to do? “ you will also be asking: “who am i? who am i? who am i? who inhabits this body? who inhabits this body?†these are subjective questions, yes, intangible questions, yes. perhaps questions discussed by philosophy, but they are existential questions inherent to the human experience. it doesn't matter what your social class is, or your level of education; at some point you will be faced with these questions. at some point you will ask: “who am i? who inhabits this body? what have i come here to do? why do i wake up in the morning?â€
then the process of the unveiling of being happens, or as i prefer to say, the unveiling of love. because i consider that at the deepest level we are a manifestation of divine love, a love that doesn’t have an address to write to, a love that wants absolutely nothing in return. this may be the main indication of your true identity. as long as you are not feeling this love that doesn't depend on anything out there to manifest itself- an unconditional love- as long as you are not feeling this unconditional love, you are far from your true identity. and in this case you need to continue your process of self-investigation, of self-discovery. the more conditional the love is, the more identified you are with your false identity, and consequently the further away you are from your purpose. purpose is intimately connected to this capacity of the soul to love unconditionally.
why? because this program for the soul's realization is like a constructive ray, it always manifests for the common good, always in favor of union, always to make everyone’s journey easier. always. it is a manifestation of unconditional love, but through you it takes on a particular expression; it expresses itself in a unique way through your gifts and talents. when these questions start to arise and the process of unveiling your purpose or love begins, you start to retrieve memories, to retrieve the vision you brought with you about what you came here to do. i consider this to be one of the most beautiful moments in human existence: when you start to align yourself with the path of the heart,
when you start to connect your inner and outer purposes. when you can manifest the inner purpose externally and still, through this, have your needs met; you can initiate the flow of prosperity, of abundance, and with this, eradicate the fear of scarcity from your system, from your body, mind and soul, then you have in fact initiated your ascension. [a baby cries in the audience in this moment]. there, this little baby inside you start to develop towards as far as he can go. how far can human consciousness reach? where can human consciousness reach? this child needs to be free to grow, and to deliver to the world the gifts that it brought,
and share with the world the wisdom that it brought, share with the world his gifts and talents. but for this, we must free this child from the captivity of the conditioned mind, which here i am calling the false identity. we must have the courage to support a paradigm shift inside ourselves. we must have the courage to free ourselves from a system of limiting beliefs that are based on fear. it is fear that makes us focus solely on the outer purpose. at a certain point we need to face this fear. we need to face this fear. even if we are shaking from head to toe! we will need to face this fear. so we are talking about a paradigm shift that at its deepest level is a change of identity. you think you are your story, your name. but is it true that you are your story or your name?
i can say that your story is perhaps the source of your anguish. and i’ll take another risk and say that a time will probably come when you will say: “i can't stand my story anymore, this story where sometimes i’m the good guy, sometimes the villain, and sometimes the victimâ€. and the roles keep changing. who are you beyond this story that you have created about yourself? this story has a function in the game. it serves you until a certain stage. just like, until a certain moment, it is ok that you do something only to survive. but there comes a moment where you start to enter a blessed crisis. this is the turning point, the time to start retrieving your inner child, to retrieve your soul’s program,
to get in touch with that which you actually came here to do. very well, my beloved friend. so that we can dive a little deeper into this subject, i’m going to open a space for us to have an exchange around this theme. because one thing is for me to simply transmit my vision unilaterally, but another is when you can also bring up your vision, your questions, your feelings about this. in this way we can grow together in understanding this topic. so let's begin. patricia, your name is patricia and you will start the questions. question: hello! my name is patricia. it is a pleasure to be here, an honor to be here with you, prem baba.
[instructions for the question and answer process] baba, while i was listening to you speak today, i was thinking that we are five hundred people or so – i don't know how many people are watching the live streaming. the auditorium is full to capacity and there might be a lot of people thinking, identifying with this place of anguish: “i am in the wrong place. i am not feeling like i fit inâ€. what can you give as a hint to someone who is listening and feeling identified with this place? where do we start? sri prem baba: great! good question. thank you. a simple but very powerful way to begin this process of self-investigation and of unveiling your purpose is by asking yourself: “if i didn't have to worry about money, if i didn't have to please anyone, what would i do? where would i be right now?â€
understand this well: i am not telling you to be rash, i am not telling you to be irresponsible and leave whatever it is you’re doing now and go live your dream. not yet! right now i am suggesting that you start to create a map, a diagnosis of your life. in this subtle study of your life, what is it that you would do if you weren’t so worried about survival, about subsistence. take a good look at your life, at the different areas of your life, and try to identify what it is that you would like to be different. try to identify what it is that you feel is disturbing you, that is a source of anguish. what you would like to be different, but can’t change? at first, i suggest that you identify your dream, what you would like for yourself.
at the same time, allow yourself to remember back to your childhood, especially the happy times, especially the times when you were able to be yourself, and try to remember what you wanted to be when you grew up. who were the people you admired? who were your heroes? and see if this in any way relates to what you want to do today, because there must be some connection. at the very least you will find inspiration, you will reconnect with this source of inspiration inspiration that contains the program for your realization, that contains your purpose, which is the source of enthusiasm and motivation. and there you will surely start to identify what prevents you from expressing that which motivates you, which gives you enthusiasm. inevitably you will need to get in touch with your limitations, with your beliefs, with the voices inside of you that say that you can’t do what you would like to do.
you will have to get in touch with what i call the inner “no’sâ€. maybe you need to face some contradictions, because if by identifying the desire to go in a certain direction, to a certain place, you see that you are limited, if you see that you are prevented from going in that direction and sometimes you even see yourself going in the opposite direction, then you will face a inner contradiction. there is a “yesâ€; â€. it wants to move in that direction which opens your heart, which fill you with joy, with enthusiasm, which gives you a feeling of warmth, gives you the chills. but there is a “no†that takes you in the opposite direction because of a series of beliefs that you carry with you, a series of impressions, of marks, of programming made throughout your life.
you will begin a process that i call healing, a process of transforming these “no’sâ€, until you can allow for this “yes†to come through, andsay “yes†to this program, this direction, this dream. and then little by little this dream can also become self-sufficient; it will meet your material needs, be transformed into money, into a source of prosperity, into a source of abundance. but i feel that when we put the need for money first, we often end up hiding what motivates us, our inner dream. so i feel that a good way to start is to at least ask: “if i didn’t have to respond to these inner voices, if i didn't have to make money, if i didn't have to fight for survival, what would i do? where would i be?†this is the beginning of the unveiling of purpose.
[end of the question and preparation for the next one] question: baba, my name is prem dhyan. i would like to speak in general about entrepreneurship, fear, and responsibility. and now i will speak in a specific way. i am an artist, i work with actors, i am a teacher and director of actors. during a moment of silence i had the inspiration to create a laboratory to investigate the issue of the distortion of the feminine and masculine principles in the creative process. what do i mean by “fear i have a place of fear and responsibility about if i already have the ability to lead work that involves the spiritual and artistic fields. my professional history comes from an artistic background and i feel that my purpose is to align these two things. but there is a no that i am dealing with, and i cannot tell if it is towards responsibility or fear,
if i am going to create good or bad karma for myself in this, if i am going to create good or bad learning experiences for myself. this is the question. sri prem baba: ok. great. opening up to the purpose meansbeing guided by intuition. you base it on reason, you base it on technical knowledge, you base it on the whole repertoire of your mind, but what guides you is your intuition, and intuition knows the way towards realization. at a certain point you will learn to trust your intuition even more than reason. i assure you. by following your inuition, you will have to face some challenges. so it is important to be aware that by following your intuition it doesn’t mean that you will be free from all kinds of challenges. no! no!
and sometimes you may even find yourself surprised by the dimension of the challenges; to the point where you might think you did something terribly wrong by following your intuition, that you made a big mistake. but these challenges are a place of purification, they are places of learning and they will greatly contribute to your evolution. so it is natural that at certain points in this journey you feel fear, you feel doubt, and you need to deal with that. i am reminded of a story of a man that, in unveiling his purpose and in listening to his intuition, understood that he needed to leave everything behind, sell everything, and travel to a distant town. and so he did: he sold everything he had, turned it into an amount of moneyand went to that town. when he got there, he was robbed.
they took everything from him. in that moment he entered a deep crisis of trust. he started to question everything, absolutely everything. he entered a valley of skepticism. since he didn’t have anything he had to sleep on a bench in the public square, and had to beg for food. until he got a job washing dishes in a restaurantand there he met someone who was very meaningful in his life. a person with whom he got involved, fell in love, and married. it’s a long story, so i won’t go into more detail, but i wanted to describe here that you do not have security, you cannot control the process. by following your intuition it is indeed possible that you will be faced with challenges.
maybe you have to deal with fears, maybe you really have to deal with doubt: “is this right, is it wrong? is it like this or like that?†continue to allow yourself to be guided by intuition, and little by little you will purify what needs be purified, you will learn what needs to be learned, you will correct what needs to be corrected. i feel that it is very important for you to free yourself from this idea of right and wrong, and let yourself follow the flow. spiritual knowledge is crucial until a certain stage, but there comes a time when it also poisons you and you will need to free yourself from this knowledge too, so that you are even able transform knowledge into wisdom, through experience. so right now, if i can give you a suggestion, it is this: let yourself go. let go. let yourself live this experience. and then you will also reach another point, that is, purpose is always related to innovation. so even if what you have come here to do is classical and traditional, there will always be something innovative about it. always.
like when you connect to your purpose and you understand that your purpose is to come here to make popcorn. but this popcorn is going to have something unique, something new, that will contribute to the cosmic order, that will contribute to the evolution of the human species in the direction it can reach. ok? [preparation for the next question] question: good morning, prem baba. my question is related to the theme that he brought up. now i would like to focus more on the theme of fear of scarcity. i went through a period at prosperity house that was wonderful, i have also been doing a practice for many years and i feel that now i am well adjusted in my purpose, i love what i do, and i am really prospering and am trying to help others do the same.
but now, i guess, that although everything is apparentlygoing well in my life and in the lives of the people i help, we still catch ourselves with the fear that this flowmay suddenly stop and that things will fail. it is very strange, because in reality there is no lack, but i still see myself faced with this challenge of turning the key so that most of my thoughts will be based on trust rather than fear. so i would like to know your view about this, if you have any tips for us. sri prem baba: ok. great! very well put. very well put. and this is a recurring theme. it is a recurring theme because the fear of scarcity is so deeply rooted in the human psyche – and i would even say, not only in the mind,
but also in the nervous system, in our dna,in our cells, because for thousands of years we have been living with the fear of scarcity. so it is natural that you are feeling fear, even when everything prospers around you, even when everything is flowing wonderfully. it is necessary to do some mental reprogramming, and consequently cellular reprogramming. it is necessary to uproot this fear from your system. for this, it is necessary to identify the roots of this fear inside of you. and this normally is related to your life history, to your biography, to traumas. because the fear of scarcity, although it is a planetary phenomenon, it is collective, it manifests individually through some very specific situations, through shocks we live through during the process of development. like when i was talking about the child, that is born free, spontaneous, trusting, loving, but at a certain point it experiences shocks that make it lose this trust.
certain events have the power to make this child feel that the ground beneath his feet has disappeared. the child feels that the ground is really disappearing. in that moment the child is cut off from his essence, he disconnects from what he is, losing the trust in life. and in that moment, fear is installed in the system. sometimes it is an undefined fear, a generalized fear, and little by little it starts to take on a particular quality, a specific characteristic, that in this case is the fear of scarcity, that has to do with information received from the environment you were raised in. it is also necessary to listen to the voices that still echo inside of you. probably from your father, mother, uncles, older brothers or sisters, everyone who participated in your development,
people saying that you can’t trust in life, that there won’t be enough, that it really doesn’t matter if you have enoughtoday because tomorrow you won’t. so if you are laughing a lot today, this means that tomorrow you will cry. this belief is deeply rooted in our system. this is worldwide. but very specifically here in brazil it manifestsin this way: if you are smiling a lot today, it means that tomorrow you will cry. and of course if this is very deeply ingrained, at some point you will end up crying, in order to prove your belief. in order to prove your belief! and so to sustain prosperity, to sustain pleasure, to sustain the good, is the greatest challenge for human beings on this planet!
it is the greatest challenge. but it is possible. we are here precisely because we believe in this possibility. so i feel that the next step is for you to investigate the roots of this fear of scarcity by looking at the traumas that still vibrate in your system, by identifying the voices that say that you must cry tomorrow if you are smiling a lot today. find out where this comes from, until you can understand that these are only ghosts, they don't have a real existence, they are mental creations. and when you realize that they are only mental creations, with no real existence, then you free yourself. you free yourself. i understand perfectly what you are saying, because i have been in that place. i have been through this.
a few decades ago, when i was able to reconnect with my purpose and the world opened up in front of me, and everything went well, everything went well, but i was carrying around this little fear: “oh, but tomorrow it will go wrong!†they are voices. only voices. only voices. only voices. and you identify that they are only voices that vibrate at the same frequency as darkness. and darkness has no existence of its own. darkness is the absence of light. when it is dark, you go and turn on the light; the darkness disappears. but first you must identify the darkness and then you go and switch on the light. ok. [preparing for the next question] question: i would just like to add something, because in two questions you talked about following intuition and following the flow of guidance.
and we often listen to our intuition, but then we hear a thought or have a dream, and start to get confused: what is intuition, what is flow, what is thought and what is my own worry? what hint can you give for us to know if it is intuition, if it is some worry, if it is the mind? sri prem baba: great! good question. intuition, when it manifests, brings a bodily sensation of openness. your energy grows, you feel an expansion, and you expand. your heart opens. you can feel enthusiasm and motivation. when the conditioned mind enters, you feel the opposite: you feel contraction. it is the ego. you often feel doubt. your energy withdraws.
and then often you end up even losing all your enthusiasm and motivation. so, i feel that this initial inspiration, which is intuitive guidance, always brings openness, always brings the feeling of: “this is what i want! this is it! this is it!†it comes with a certainty: “it is this!†you feel complete and everything falls into place. even if this movement that comes from everything falling into place later on creates a sense of things not being in place. it is part of the purification, of learning. because at the deepest level, realizing your purposehas the goal of expanding consciousness, and to expand consciousness, it is necessary to free oneself from ghosts, it is necessary to be freed from limiting belief systems, it is necessary to be freed from many things you think you are but that are not who you are.
so, to follow intuition does not mean you won’t have any challenges. and maybe in a second moment, or third, or fourth, or fifth, you may feel that things aren’t working, then you doubt, then you go into the conditioned mind, then the ego comes in again, and you contract. it is as if you were going from one place to another, but before getting to the final destination, there are many stops along the way, and at these stops you need to renew the gps codes. intuition needs renewal.and often you are faced with other challenges. so it is a great art to be guided by intuition. it is a great art. question: prem baba, how are you? my name is nilo.
my question is simple: what are the two main examples, in your opinion, of people who have been able to balance this inner purpose with the outer purpose. sri prem baba: there are many! so let me try and find two examples, one very different from the other. i can talk about my example, because i am realizing what i came here to realize. i am manifesting in the world what my heart determines. in order to reach this place i have beenthrough quite a few ups and downs. i have made mistakes and i have done what was right to do, i have discovered, i have lost, i have expanded and contracted, until a certain moment where i found my place.
another example: my gardener. i feel that my gardener is doing what he came here to do. he wakes up in the morning to take care of the plants. he wakes up in the morning to make the worldbeautiful through the plants he takes care of. it is an inner purpose that is being manifested externally. i see him happy, self-realized, and enthusiastic to be performing that act of service. while i also see the opposite of this. it is not what you asked me but i am going ahead. i see the opposite, where people are completelyunhappy because they did not havethe chance to follow their dream, and have ended up, unfortunately, becoming bitter and hiding behind a shop counter for example,
when in fact their purpose might have taken them to a very different place. but because of the fear of taking risks, because of insecurity, even because during the course of their life they accumulated responsibilities which they feared they wouldn’t able to fulfill and honor, they ended up hiding behind a shop counter. they harden their heart and become bitter, just waiting to die, waiting for it to all be over soon. because when life has no meaning you want it to end soon, living becomes unpleasant, it becomes bitter. bitter. so then instead of celebrating your existence you keep on complaining andfinding fault in everything, you see faults everywhere, you see problems everywhere.
life becomes a sacrifice because the dreams begin to deteriorate inside of it. the purpose starts to deteriorate inside of it. i would say that this might be the most unfortunateaspect of the human experience. in my view it is the saddest aspect. question:thank you very much! i hope my question can serve everyone. prem baba, you talked to us about facing fear. i feel like i always faced fear, and i have gone after things, but i feel that in my entrepreneurship,i have an agency that creates campaigns for conscious companies, that two years ago i finally came upon something that is also my purpose, to facilitate the understanding of sexuality in the world, because it is so confusing, isn't it?
and i started to offer classes about sexuality and quantum physics, because that is my background. i was very successful. soon after starting, i was very successful and it shocked me. so, you spoke about how to face fear.it's as though i had lost the way to face fear. i don't know if i should go forward with a sword ... because i also have this idea of an inspired action: when we take an inspired action it has this potential:behind it everything opens up, all help is given. so, do i wait for this inspired action or do i go forward anyway? this is the question. sri prem baba:that's great! fear is a complex psychological matrix. there is the fear of visible, palpable things, there is the fear of subjective, impalpable things; there is fear of fear, and fear of feeling the fear of the fear, and so on.
some of these fears we can conquer with the sword. others, it is not with the sword that we win. we win by embracing it. by embracing it. so, the fear of scarcity perhaps we have to face with the sword, but the fear of success we might have to face by embracing it. it is through embracing it that we also come into contact with the roots of the fear. in the same way that i suggested dealing with the fear of scarcity, identifying the roots, the voices, i also suggest that you can identify the roots of this fear of greatness, of being successful. perhaps it is the fear of doing better than your parents, your ancestors, perhaps it’s the fear of being different, maybe it’s a fear of losing yourself, of losing yourself in the greatness. so i feel that this fear has to be a little better understood.
this issue that you are raising is interesting because it is central to the theme of 'purpose'. when you are aligned with your purpose you will surely prosper, and for this you are going to need to deal with the fear of success, to deal with the fear of greatness, with the fear of being bigger than what you were before and with the fear of being bigger than those who came before you, those who brought you here, fear of being bigger than your parents were for example, fear of being more prosperous than them, fear of being more successful than them. because you could also have a belief that when you are bigger than them you will be distant from them, become isolated and feel alone. so in this case, prosperity brings along with it a ghost of loneliness, a ghost of isolation. it's a belief, but it's a belief that has power and can limit your progress if it is active within you.
maybe you were raised to grow only until a certain point. perhaps you don't have permissionto go beyond this point. perhaps you don't feel blessed to go beyond this point. feeling blessed means having permission to go beyond.often, you don't have this permission. there really is a limit. it's a limit that comes from a place that perhaps you are not able to identify, but it's there. maybe it comes from your parents, maybe from your grandparents, maybe from your great grandparents. maybe it comes from an ancestorthat you don't know yet, but there is a limit there saying that you can only prosper up until a certain point and you can't go any further.
it's just that this really is a problem. and why is this really a problem? because prosperity has no limits. when you are aligned with your purpose you come into contact with the field of pure potential. everything is possible. everything is possible; listen to what i'm saying! everything is possible. and when i talk about prosperity i am not necessarily talking about accumulating money, but about trusting that all your needs will be met and that all that you circulate in terms of energy, including money,
all that you move without your needing to worry that there won’t be enough, and you can erase this worry from your mind. so this prosperity can be infinite. you can move an energy that is far beyond the human mind, far beyond the ego. the ego can't measure it.sometimes you get scared. in the same way that, on a different level, at the level of relationship, you sometimes get scared by the dimension of love, by the dimension of sexual pleasure – as you are already speaking about sexuality. a couple can be scared of the pleasure that is experienced when sex is joined with the heart, and you can really feel scared. in the same way that on our planet today human civilization is scared by new things that are arriving and as a consequence has taken a step backwards in various respects, in various areas.
we are living though a shock at the new that is appearing. this fear of pleasure, this fear of prosperity, this fear of greatness needs to be further explored, needs to be embraced. it is necessary to look at the roots of it until we are able to go beyond it. this issue is really intriguing, isn't it? look closely, let's talk about other aspects, not just prosperity or pleasure. often we limit ourselves to believing that we are not capable of forgiving someone who hurt us. we limit ourselves to believing that we are not capable of loving someone who thinks differently from us. we limit ourselves to believing that we are not capable of keeping our hearts open to someone who offended us. this is a limitation, it is limited, it's a lie, it's a mental creation.
we can love someone who thinks differently from us, we can keep our hearts open to those who have offended us. forgiveness is infinite. love is also infinite, but we often limit ourselves to believing that we don’t have the ability. do you see how at the deepest level it really is an issue of how we think about something? at the deepest level it is an issue related to how we deal with this apparatus or power called the mind. how do we deal with this power called mind? question: thank you! first of all i would like to congratulateyou for all you've said. your aura is beautiful! today i have the happiness to awaken to this understanding and live this experienceof prosperity and intuition. the pathways opened precisely because i understood the need for forgiveness.
i would like it if you could speak about this because at certain times in my life and of those around me,i realized that the lack of forgiveness blocks prosperity. sri prem baba: and it also blocks the possibility of us becoming aware of our purpose. so i will end by telling a brief story. whenever i speak about purpose i end up telling this story. it is a story from the old testament. it's about jonas, a character, a man who was in search of his purpose. he dedicated himself rigorously to his spiritual practice so that he could unveil his purpose. "why am i here? mystery, what do you want from me? " he called the mystery, god. “god, what do you want from me? " until that which is the only life, the supreme being, manifested through him and said: "i want you to go to nineveh. i want to save those people through you. i will speak through you to save those people."
and jonas went in the opposite direction, he went to tarsus, he sneaked into a boat and went to sleep. why did he do this? because he had held onto the hurts and resentmentshe had towards the people of nineveh. they had attacked and wounded his people, so he was hurt and resentful. this is a small example of to what extent hurt and resentment can prevent you from manifesting your purpose. therefore, i consider that this work of purifying the heart, identifying the hurts and resentments, is also part of the first steps towards unveiling your purpose. because if you hold onto hurts and resentments it means that you believe you have enemies. and if you have enemies you can't create space to express your purpose, because your purpose is something that benefits the other, it makes you into a friend who wants to see the other shine, grow and prosper, always. it is always like this.
so the purpose is love in action, it is love in motion, through you, in a form that’s unique to you. and love will always make the other shine, sometimes more than you shine. even more than you do. love, through you, will want to make the other happy. it will make the other prosper through you. but in order for this to happen, for this love to move through you, you need to free yourself from this idea that you have enemies. you have to become a friend of the other. this is only possible when you eliminate hurts and resentments from your heart. starting with your family. starting with your family. first, by cleaning this area, repairing the relationships with your family. and then afterwards with those around you, until you can be a friend of humanity, until you can see all of humanity as your friend. then, yes, your purpose will manifest and love will move through you to reach the other,
happiness will move through you to reach the other, prosperity will move through you to reach the other, light will move through you to reach the other. so, my beloved friend, once more i thank google, andrã©, patricia and everyone who worked to organize this event, and all of you who came in search of illuminating your purpose. until we meet again, namaste
